In the image, the doll appears to have closed her eyes but in reality she has no eyelids or eyes for that matter.
No flash photography, PLEASE! Let the dead rest in peace. Do you believe in ghosts? If yes, here's something which will keep you up at night today. If not, explain this. A 116-year-old doll, which people are convinced is haunted, was caught blinking because of the camera's flash, despite not having eyelids or eyes anymore. The photo clicked by two ghostbusters who were investigating an abandoned building known as the 'The Village of the Damned', in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire is now doing rounds on the internet and people are claiming the photo is 'cursed.'
28-year-old Craig Jones and Matt Wood, 48, certainly got a lot more than they bargained for and totally flipped when they saw that in the selfie they took with the alleged haunted doll, she appears to have blinked due to the light and moreover, has eyeshadow and mascara on her eyelids, which are not even there! The century-old doll doesn't have eyes, only hollow holes. How can this possibly happen?! *sprays holy water all around*
The ghosthunting duo went to investigate Janet, the doll who has a reputation of being super haunted. Not only that, people claim that her presence makes them dizzy and gives them headaches. Several people have also reported hearing weird and creepy noises around the building. She was originally owned by a Texas family in 1903. Not much is known about Janet, other than the fact that whoever owned her, complained about her being possessed by a devil.
"I love haunted objects and actually being on an investigation with a haunted doll is amazing, which is what made me want to get a picture with her," Craig told Mirror. "We took a picture with Janet, and as I looked at the picture it looked like her eyes were closed. But then I remembered that she doesn't have any eyes or eyelids and just has empty sockets, so I turned my torch on to check, as it was dark and I saw that's she doesn't."
The ghost hunters also added that they tried to recreate the picture and took multiple other pictures with the doll but she didn't blink in any of them again. "We were confused and took more photos to try to recreate it, but couldn't. Then other people then tried but also couldn't recreate it either. We showed a lot of other people at the event and everyone said that it's 'crazy' and 'very creepy'. People also said that it definitely looks like her eyes are closed and it looks like she has eyelashes and make-up on," the two men revealed.
Janet first came to people's attention when a woman called Julie begged a paranormal investigator to take Janet. She told him that the doll was given to her grandmother by her grandmother in 1903 and the creepy doll has been haunting the family ever since. "All of Julie's family hated the doll and hated coming round to her house when the doll was on show. It ended up being put and locked away in the loft. She reportedly heard footsteps coming from the loft," investigator Miki noted.
"When she arrived at my house, I did a spirit box session with her, just to see if I could get any information out of the supposedly haunted doll. When I asked for the doll's name, I got the name 'Janet' come through and so she became Janet. Many people feel sick or dizzy when around her and in her presence. Also, people have said they get headaches when watching videos of Janet online. In my house, I've had voices and shadows downstairs and also my daughter's bedroom door opened on its while I was filming a video with Janet," he added.
Haunted dolls aren't exactly a new discovery, multiple other haunted dolls and objects currently exist. The infamous Annabelle doll is one of them. And, considering how much Hollywood is in need of original ideas, I think it is safe to say we might see a movie called Janet in the near future.Disclaimer : This is based on sources and we have been unable to verify this information independently.
