6-YO Brain Tumor Survivor Releases Christmas Song To Raise Money For Those With Same Condition

Lyra Cole became an internet sensation after recording her version of the Christmas classic 'When a Child is Born' in order to raise money for Brain Tumour Research.

Lyra Cole, a six-year-old girl, was diagnosed with a brain tumor when she was just a baby. However, she is now an inspiration for all those who are battling the same condition, so much so that she has even made it to the top of Amazon Music Chart.

And what better way to raise money for those with the same condition than by singing a beautiful Christmas classic.

Rightfully so, she has now gone viral after recording her version of the Christmas classic 'When a Child is Born' in order to raise money for the charity Brain Tumour Research.

'When a child is born' was a song by Johnny Matthis that came out in 1976 and Lyra's favorite version is by Sir Cliff Richard so that was used as inspiration. The charity single by the girl even ranked higher than The X Factor Celebrities, Dance Monkey and Dua Lipa on the charts.

Lyra's parents found out about her condition when she was just five-months-old. She went through an emergency surgery to remove the brain tumor.

The tumor was a low-grade choroid plexus papilloma, a type that is often found in children. Sadly, it is often discovered even before they reach their first birthday.

Thankfully, her tumor was successfully removed with an operation that lasted 11 hours. Within months Lyra, who hails from Somerset, underwent another procedure that restored her eyesight.

To raise money for the charity, she worked with her aunt Jessie Hawkes, the creative director of a media company. She has now released a single and video as well.

"Lyra really is a superstar, she loves to perform and has a beautiful voice. We chose the track When A Child is Born because I think it will really resonate with people and I hope that when they listen and see the video they will think about everything Lyra has been through and make a donation to give hope to families who, like us, know the devastation caused by a brain tumor," she was quoted as saying by Daily Record.

Lyra added: "I'm really hoping that the song makes it into the Christmas charts. That would be a dream come true." You can donate for the cause here.

We wish Lyra a long and healthy life ahead. You are a true inspiration.
