A 'Downton Abbey' Movie Is HAPPENING This Year, And Fans Can't Contain Their Excitement!

A new trailer for the Downton Abbey movie is out and it features several familiar faces including Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Michelle Dockery, Matthew Goode, Joanne Froggatt, Jim Carter, and Maggie Smith.

The Crawleys are finally returning and fans can't keep calm! Hold on, before you get too excited, no we are not getting a new season of  Downton Abbey. However, there is a new movie coming out based on the popular TV series and we also have a trailer. The period ITV drama came to an end in 2015 after six amazing seasons and now there is a film coming out on September 20, one week after its international release on Friday, September 13.  As reported by BBC.

The trailer features several cast members from the 20th century period drama based on the lives of those who lived upstairs and downstairs in the prestigious estate of Downton Abbey.

We won't spoil the trailer for you because you have to watch it and see how amazing it looks. It features several familiar faces including Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Michelle Dockery, Matthew Goode, Joanne Froggatt, Jim Carter, and Maggie Smith.

The show which is inspired by the 1970s BBC series "Upstairs, Downstairs" reveals what really happens between the upstairs nobles who interact with the downstairs servants. And to no surprise, the series creator Julian Fellowes has penned the movie’s script, while Michael Engler — who directed finale of the show in 2015 — will serve as the director.

In its six seasons, the series has amassed 3 Golden Globe Awards, 15 Primetime Emmy Awards, and 69 Emmy nominations in total. And this is a mere testament to the accolades that the show has received over the years. Downton Abbey even earned a Special BAFTA award and a Guinness World Record for the highest critically rated TV show along the way.

Laura Carmichael, who plays Lady Edith in the Downton Abbey movie, said that she was overwhelmed by the upcoming movie. “I can’t imagine that anyone feels about Downton the way that I do,” she told Harper's Bazaar. “It changed my life in the most dramatic way possible. If I hear the theme music, I can get a bit emotional.”

“The shoot was fun, we had a really good time. It felt very comfortable going back and lovely to be with everyone again. There’s so much affection for the show and we feel that as well,” Laura added.

Ever since fans got to know that the movie was happening following the recent trailer, their happiness knew no bounds. A Twitter user said: @DowntonAbbey is a prime example how a show is done right from beginning to series finale. The way it ended was very satisfying and still left for more stories that can be told.
