Realizing that his mom finds it difficult to commute to work and that she couldn't afford a vehicle, the teen boy decided to take the matter into his own hands. And boy, is he winning hearts on the internet!
At a time when teenagers are busy taking selfies, watching Netflix and even staring into their phones for hours, there is a heartwarming story out there that deserves to be told! This story is truly inspiring and a testament to what a child can do in order to just make his parents smile, reports CBS News.
And that's exactly what a 13-year-old boy from Nevada did. Realizing that his mom finds it difficult to commute to work and that she couldn't afford a vehicle, the teen boy decided to take the matter into his own hands. And boy, is he winning hearts on the internet!
William Rabillo decided to trade his Xbox and do some yard work, so he could make some bucks and surprise his single mom with the purchase. William had seen a cheap 1999 Chevrolet Metro listed for sale on Facebook and sent a message to the owner, asking for a trade. He was willing to give up his Xbox for it or do some yard work in return for the car. “At first she said no and after she thought about it, then she said yes," reports KOLO.
"It was really cheap so I asked her if I could trade it for my Xbox or earn it, and at first she said no, and then she thought about it, and then she said yes," William said. Krystal Jo Preston, who hails from Fernley, Nev., shared the story on Facebook. She is a single mom in Nevada with her three kids and three dogs. She revealed that her life was “hell filled with so many tears, anger, confusion and heartache” in recent weeks, but her son decided to help her out as a “lawn mowing, yard cleaning, money-making machine.”
Imagine Preston's surprise when her kid told her that he had bought a car for her. At first, she thought William was joking but when the seller arrived at her house, she knew something was up! William got the idea from seeing YouTube videos of children surprising their moms with cars.
“I was handed the keys and paperwork to the car and I'm freaking out but so in shock this is happening right now. So we got into the car it started right up and off we went,” she wrote on Facebook.
“I am so proud of my son. He is such a good kid. He may have his days but OMG what 13-year-old kid do you know that buys his mom a car... William, I love you son and thank you. You have such a big heart and I love you...”
William had been working after school hours, just to make a quick buck and buy the most beautiful gift anyone could, for a mother. It was a car, but what is even more beautiful is that fact that he loved and cared for his mother. And that is something, no amount of money can buy!
"I lost it, I bawled so bad, I was just like there's no way," said Preston. "What 13-year-old do you know buys their mom a car, I don't know any, never heard of any. I can't even express it like there is no words that can express my gratitude and how proud I am." The mother and son soon drove off together in the white 1999 Chevrolet Metro he had bought her.
Now, this is indeed a beautiful story and it has, deservedly so, gone viral ever since the news broke out. A GoFundMe has also been set up to raise money for the family. And many people are really contributing towards a well-deserved new video-game console for William.
Well done, boy! Everybody knows how difficult it is to give up things that we really love, just to make another person smile. But what the 13-year-old boy did is truly unimaginable and remarkable.
