You can hide from ''baby shark' on YouTube, but who will save you now? Nickelodeon is turning the song into a TV show and there's no escape.
As if Nickelodeon hasn't annoyed us ENOUGH with Dora The Explorer, it is now all set to turn BABY SHARK into a TV show. Sure, it will be a kid's show, obviously, and that is all the more reason to be SCARED. Imagine your kids, your neighbor's kids, the kids in airplanes, EVERY kid on earth singing THAT song, all the time!
Baby shark, noo noo noo! But it is happening, and there's nothing you can do about it. Pinkfong, the entertainment company who created Baby Shark, has partnered with Nickelodeon and together they are bringing the most annoying thing on TV, second only to Keeping Up with Kardashians.
The collaboration was announced this Wednesday revealing that baby, mommy, daddy, grandma, and grandpa sharks are getting their very own TV show after rising as a viral sensation on YouTube, becoming one of the MOST watched videos on the platform.
As of now, Baby Shark has over 2.8 BILLION views and since there's no stopping it, Nickelodeon has decided to monetize on it and make some good money.
Ramsey Naito, Executive Vice President of Nickelodeon, has revealed that it only made sense to them to capitalize into something which has so much potential. The song for kids is extremely popular with adults as well and, believe it or not, has been covered by many big artists and was also featured on shows like X-Factor. Baby Shark also remained in Billboard's top 100 for TWENTY consecutive weeks! Taylor Swift whoo whoo whoo?
"At the heart of any popular piece of content is a terrific character, and we have a great opportunity to further explore the world of Baby Shark and follow this family through some great animated adventures on Nickelodeon," Naito told USA Today. While all other details such as the voice cast and release date are yet to be revealed, the Baby Shark company, however, has revealed that they are also launching exclusive goodies.
"Our outstanding creative teams are moving fast to get more Baby Shark product across multiple categories to retailers, and our content team is excited to develop a terrific original animated series that will bring this property to new heights and even more fans," said Pam Kaufman, President, Viacom Nickelodeon Consumer Products in a statement. What kind of goodies are we talking here? Plushies? Pillows? Toys? Guess we'll have to wait and see.
"Who will buy all that?" People, Linda. People. Last year, Pinkfong unveiled official Baby Shark singing toys on Amazon and ALL OF THEM were sold out within hours. Imagine the popularity. The toys were available for all the sharks in the family and the baby one was the first to run out.
It is back in stock though, in case you are willing it to buy it, too. The plushies are adorable, there's no doubt there, but when you press them, they start playing THE SONG. Want one? Get it here for just $17, currently on sale.
