Us human beings need to realize that we DO NOT OWN everything on this Earth and animals are not our toys.
In a recent video that surfaced, people can be seen playing the classic grab arcade game but instead of badges, chocolates, and soft toys, the prizes inside the arcade machine were not plastic but ACTUAL puppies stuffed inside a small glass box, running away as the metal claw tried to grab them. As children and even adults, we all have played that game and tried to get the toy we really wanted but THIS? This is just outrageous and unacceptable. Human beings NEED to realize that animals are not their 'toys' or source of entertainment.
The video clip which has now gone viral on the internet is believed to have filmed in an arcade in China and has sparked a MAJOR outrage online from all across the globe. People are taking to social media to criticize the practice and some just can't believe what they are seeing in the clip. Poor puppies, a lot of them, trapped in a box, running from the grab of the metal claw and humans trying to catch them as rewards while laughing. Have we really no sense of morality left?
While we are not sure where the video emerged from, famous biologist Daniel Schneider shared the clip with Mirror and told them that he has seen tons of similar games in practice which are nothing but another cruel way to torture animals. He shared the video online which sparked controversy from all sides of the world and animal activists are now urging the Chinese government to take immediate action.
Elisa Allen, the director of animal rights group PETA, described the video as "matter of life and death." She said, "Animals aren't disposable toys, and PETA urges Chinese authorities to look into this video as a matter of urgency – if the dogs are real, it's not a harmless arcade game but rather a matter of life and death. Live animals – including lobsters, turtles, and crabs – are commonly sold in claw machines across China."
"They can easily be hurt by being repeatedly dropped, and some have been left to endure a painful death from dehydration or starvation," she added. This is not the first time something like this has been reported from China. Two years ago, an arcade parlor was found using real cats as prizes in their claw grabber machines. An online petition was started by animal lovers, asking the government to interfere and stop such practices.
"An arcade in China (thought to be in China Town) is using live cats as prizes in an arcade claw machine. This involves punters paying money into an arcade machine(much like the teddy prize machines we have here in the UK) to control a large metal claw and grab ahold of extremely frightened cats and kittens which they can take home if they win. These are NOT conditions ANY type of animal should be kept in whether wild or domestic and who knows what type of owners these poor innocent animals will end up with; especially considering these are people happy to partake in this cruel and disgusting 'game' to begin with!" read the petition which got thousands of supporters.
Imagine how sad and terrified these poor puppies must be being inside such a small space as humans try to grab them with claws. And, if they win, I'm sure these people either abandon these animals or take home and torture them. What can you expect from a person who believes that dogs, cats or any animal for that matter are their possession, like a toy? I hope this time around the Chinese government takes a stern action. Raise your voices for the ones who can't speak and do your part in saving the puppies by sharing this and raising awareness. THIS needs to stop.
