This Supermarket Is Selling Christmas Products In MAY And Customers Are Baffled

The shopper noticed a pile of Christmas Eve boxes on sale at one branch of Aldi - seven months before December.

You know what they say --- it is never too soon to celebrate Christmas. Well, as much we love to agree with, but a customer was completely taken aback when a major supermarket decided to start selling Christmas products in the month of May. Yes, you read that just fine, reports Metro

The shopper noticed a pile of Christmas Eve boxes on sale at one branch of Aldi - seven months before December. But summer hasn't even begun and Aldi already has Santa products on its shelves. Nothing wrong in it, right? But a shocked customer took to Twitter to talk about this and it has since then gone viral. It all happened when 30-year-old Andy Bruce from Bury in Greater Manchester, walked to the Crostons Retail Park branch. And the product costs £20, cut from £80, on Friday. So this led many to believe that it might be from last year's stock.

Meanwhile, Andy posted a picture on Twitter and asked the retailer: “Seriously @AldiUK??”  And for this, Aldi responded: "Never too early to start preparing for Christmas, Andy!"

Andy replied: "I had to double take as I walked past, and pretty much just thought 'Seriously? It's May! This is ridiculous. I sent the picture to my sister and my husband who were both also in disbelief."

Now if you have been wondering what Christmas Eve boxes are -- it is a new tradition in the UK in which parents fill a box with chocolates for their kids. And the kids usually open the boxes on the day before Christmas.

Many supermarkets have started selling the Christmas Eve boxes as it is becoming very popular across the country. However, none so soon as Aldi did it. Meanwhile, Andy's post evoked a lot of responses -- one Twitter user said: "Must be reduced from last Christmas, cause it’s not even BBQ season yet!” Meanwhile, another added: When did we stop needing food btw?"

This incident comes on the heels of Poundland selling Christmas doormats on sale at one of the discount retailer's stores. Even as we wait for summer to arrive, a Poundland customer was shocked to see the doormat that reads: 'Santa please stop here'.  Lynne Barrow shared the picture of the doormat on a Facebook page called Poundland Appreciation Society.

So this goes on to prove that Poundland is selling Christmas products in spring and that the supermarket has its own 'appreciation society'. Lynne captioned the image saying: "I think Poundland are getting in early for Christmas." And many social media users came up with an opinion of the supermarket. One person said: "Flipping heck we've only just started Lent!" Meanwhile, another added: "Well there is only 270 days to go to the big day lol"

Following the incident, even Poundland employees joined in the discussion and said they were having hundreds delivered to their stores. One such employee commented: "We've got them in our store - 470 of them. Me and my colleagues thought we could at least get Easter out the way first!" Another worker said: "We got 400 delivered on Tuesday."
