Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin's hit series 'Grace and Frankie' will be back on Netflix on January 15, 2020.
Grace and Frankie is all set to return to Netflix in January 2020, and fans are excited. Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin's hit series is about two longtime rivals who become close friends after they discover their husbands have been secretly in a romantic relationship for decades. The synopsis of the show reads, "For as long as they can recall, Grace and Frankie have been rivals. Their one-upmanship comes crashing to a halt, however, when they learn that their husbands have fallen in love with each other and want to get married. As everything around the ladies is coming apart, the only thing they can really rely on is each other.
This Netflix original re-teams Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin ("9 to 5") as Grace and Frankie, respectively, bringing their chemistry to the small screen. It's a casting reunion on a grand scale, as Tomlin is reunited with her co-star from "The West Wing," Martin Sheen, who plays Grace's husband, Robert. And Fonda is back with Sam Waterston, her co-star from "The Newsroom," who plays Frankie's husband, Sol."

Before the premiere of season 5, Netflix announced that the show would be coming back for a sixth season. It later confirmed that the show would release on January 15, 2020. The production of season 6 began almost immediately after season 5 released on Netflix. Some snaps have also released that showed Jane Fonda and other cast members and crew on set for season 6.
According to whats on Netflix, the final episode of season 5 saw Grace and Frankie recollect the last three years and wonder how their life would've panned out if they didn't live with each other. Given how the finale of season 5 ended with Grace marrying Nick, it is quite likely that there will be some major changes in store for season 6 as Grace and Frankie might find themselves looking for a new place to stay. The cast that is confirmed to return is Sam Waterston, Martin Sheen, Brooklyn Decker, Ethan Embry, June Diane Raphael, Baron Vaughn, Peter Cambor, Peter Gallagher, and Michael Charles Roman.
I just found out season 6 is going to be the last season of Grace and Frankie and that makes me so sad. That’s literally my favorite show and I love all the characters so much. I’m truly going to miss it after this season.— 🅂🄷🄰🄽🄴🄻🄻🄴 👠 (@ellenahs_) September 15, 2019

A large number of celebrity cameos have happened on Grace and Frankie with RuPaul appearing throughout season 5. It is speculated that this season it’s finally time for Dolly Parton to come onboard. In the '90s, the trio (Fonda, Tomlin and Parton) starred together in 9-5. In addition, it makes perfect sense since Parton is all set to appear in a Netflix anthology series due out later this year called Heartstrings.
As for the number of episodes, it would appear (even though it's yet to be confirmed) that there would be 13 episodes, as it has been in the previous seasons. So, it would only make sense if the pattern is followed for the upcoming season. The show has also been renewed for a seventh season, which will be the final season, and is slated for a January 2021 release.
