A New Horror Movie Described As 'The Shining Set In White House' Is Happening

Helmed by Fede Alvarez of 'Don't Breathe' fame, the horror movie is set in the White House and it sounds like a winner already.

If you believe 'White House' and 'horror' cannot go together, then think again. 'Don't Breathe' director Fede Alvarez is now working on a new project that he describes as “White House meets The Shining”.

Even though Alvarez is relatively new to feature films, he made his mark in the horror genre a long time back.

Alvarez headed the 2013 'Evil Dead' reboot, but not many appreciated the much-anticipated movie. For some people, Alvarez’s very dark and gory filmmaking style did not sit well since the original movie was more comical than gory in nature.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed the news as part of Alvarez’s first-look deal with Legendary pictures and that will see the director venturing into as-of-yet untitled horror thriller that will be set in the White House. The script will be written by Joe Epstein.

After Alvarez rose to fame with 'Evil Dead' reboot and his critically acclaimed 'Don’t Breathe', he worked on another movie 'The Girl in the Spider’s Web' last year.

It cannot be determined yet if this horror movie set in the White House will live up to the expectation of 'The Shining', Alvarez will also compete against the current political climate which is probably even scarier for many people.

Whenever they decide to make the movie, one thing we can be sure about the fact that it will no doubt be controversial since any marketing around using the White House in a horror movie is sure to draw a lot of attention from people.

A movie that is about the home of the president of the United States is bound to attract a lot of eyeballs and not all of them will be positive. If the movie does go through a lot of controversies, it could actually end up drawing a lot of crowd and audience and it might just end up favoring the movie.

The movie has no official release date yet.

Additionally, it will be very interesting to see if Alvarez’s film focuses on the president and exactly how that isolation will be handled in a place that reportedly has close to 2,000 full-time employees.
