The season 2 of the vampire comedy series will bring back the original cast including Rayvan Novak as Nandor, Matt Berry as Laszlo, Harvey Guillén as Guillermo and many others.
When Jermaine Clement and Taika Waititi co-wrote and co-directed the rib-tickling mockumentary What We Do In The Shadows back in 2014, little did we know about the lore it would bring upon us or that people would continue loving it even after years.
Fast forward to 2019, the series was adapted to television and expanded upon to make, possibly, the most hilarious series of the year. The series, which credits Clement as the creator and Waititi as an executive producer, received an overwhelmingly positive response from TV viewers and has even received a 94% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. So, it was of little doubt that the show would make a return for FX's 2020-2021 roster.
The first season of the show aired between March 27th, 2019 to May 29th, 2019 and was deservedly renewed for a second season. Hence, it naturally leads to the next question, as the anniversary of the first season's air date looms: When is Season 2 of the vampire-comedy hitting the screen?
Well, fret not, we've got an update for you. FX has officially released the premiere date for the second season. And, as per reports, it's going to be on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, 10 PM ET/PT, and it is expected to have a total of 10 episodes. According to Deadline, the first two episodes of the show will air on the premiere day followed by a new episode each subsequent week.
What we can expect in Season 2?
The first season of What We Do In The Shadows featured the vampire crew living together in Staten Island. Season 2 will see more of the same with everyone from the original cast returning Rayvan Novak as Nandor, Matt Berry as Laszlo, Harvey Guillén as Guillermo, Natasia Demetriou as Nadja, and Mark Proksch as Colin Robinson.
There has also been news about Mark Hamill who is set to guest star in the second season with little else information available about the name or the type of character he would be portraying. As to the showrunners, Jermaine Clement will be back to helm the second season, while Taika Waititi is set to sit out the whole of the season, having directed three episodes of the first season.
On the plot front, Season 2 will start off where Season 1 ended with the going back on Guillermo and how a DNA test revealed him being the heir of Van Helsing, a famous vampire slayer, meaning he would likely go on a spree killing all his friends. So, Season 2's dynamic will majorly be predicated on this new revelation and how it could affect Guillermo and the other characters.
