General Mills have announced that they will release their classic Monster Cereals along with the upcoming animated movie 'The Addams Family'.
Get ready to party with Boo Berry, Count Chocula and Franken Berry all over again as General Mills Monster Cereals will hit store shelves once again this September. The monster cereals are a line of breakfast cereals produced by General Mills Corporation. It all started nearly half a century ago when 'Count Chocula' and 'Franken Berry' were both introduced in March 1971.
I'm 45 and married and my Mom still buys me Count Chocula every year!— Matt Prescott (@whiteknight1874) August 13, 2019
But this time, it's much more than your favorite cereal. General Mills in a recent blog, has just reported that the 2019 Fall release of Monster Cereals will come with packaging that promotes this October’s highly anticipated animated 'Addams Family' movie. On the back of the box, you’ll find The Addams Family trick-or-treating at the Monsters’ castle.

The partnership includes free Addams Family and Cereal Monsters pumpkin carving stencils. The new Addams Family film is set to be released on 11th October 2019. Following the lives of the ghoulish Addams Family, the new animated film focuses on their efforts to avoid becoming the latest reality TV stars.
“With The Addams Family movie coming out in October, we wanted to partner because of the timeliness with Halloween,” said General Mills’ Sarah McCullough. “We thought it would be a fun idea to offer stencils during a time when people are carving pumpkins. We created them so people can interact with our characters and the ones from The Addams Family.”
"Right you are Sarah, that's a great idea in just about every way we can think of! “It’s exciting because this is the first time Monster Cereals has partnered with a movie,” adds McCullough.
At the time, General Mills were the only chocolate and strawberry flavored cereals on the market. The first blueberry-flavored cereal, Boo Berry, was launched in December 1972. During the initial decade of production until the early 1980s, the monster cereals were also known for their wide variety of both in-pack and mail-away cereal premiums. Many items, such as posters, paint sets, speedster cars, parachutes, and even vinyl advertising figures were produced.
Now, since 2010, Franken Berry, Boo Berry, and Count Chocula cereals have been manufactured and sold only for a few months during the autumn/Halloween season in September and October. As of late 2010, information such as nutrition data and historical factoids can still be found on the official General Mills website at all times of the year.
