Here's all you need to know.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife is coming soon and as longtime fans of the franchise, we cannot get more excited. We received a new clip from the upcoming movie which shows the return of the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man... in miniature form. This is going to be the latest installment in the famous paranormal action-comedy show that has been around for a long time. Ghostbusters: Afterlife is positioned as a direct sequel to the original two films which totally rocked the 80s, EW reports.
We had previously expected the release of the movie to be in the summer of 2020. But with the coronavirus pandemic, it was pushed back to sometime this year. The film has already had multiple release dates in 2021, but currently remains scheduled for a November 11th release. Though this too might change, we are hoping that it will stick. The premise of Ghostbusters: Afterlife follows a single mom (Carrie Coon) and her two children (Finn Wolfhard and McKenna Grace) as they move into their late grandfather's house. Slowly they end up discovering their family's connections to the Ghostbusters. Following a bunch of bizarre incidents, the kids are forced to pick up where their grandpa left off as they carry on the Ghostbusters legacy.
In the upcoming movie, we are expecting to see the return of all original Ghostbusters stars, which is one of the biggest reasons for all the hype. Unfortunately, we will not see the late Harold Ramis and potentially miss out on Rick Moranis too. We may have an upcoming trailer in store for us as Ghostbusters: Afterlife just unveiled a new teaser. This clip takes us back to the glorious past of the franchise while also making important ties to its future. In the teaser, we see Paul Rudd's Ghostbuster newcomer Mr. Grooberson casually out shopping. He discovers some tiny little menaces: Miniature Stay-Puft Marshmallow Men.
Okay, there is no denying that they may seem cute at first, but just wait a while and you will witness the kind of chaos they cause. You can check out the entire clip here... it's rather amusing. The upcoming Ghostbusters flick has just about everything needed to make it a real blockbuster. Fans of the show have been clamoring for years that they needed a really good rendition of the beloved franchise. The combination of the most amazing elements from the 80s and a whole new generation could really make for a fantastic production. Returning star Bill Murray recently stated that Afterlife is going to kickstart the Ghostbusters franchise back to life.
We are certainly excited about that, and looking at the teaser, we can be sure to enjoy more than a few laughs too. It's great to see The Stay-Puft Man return for this, as it is a welcome reference to the first movie. There are also other glimpses of the ghosts that appear in Afterlife having a distinct connection to the 80s films. While that is good to hear, we would also like to see some original creatures brought into the fray as well.
