Greta Thunberg promotes veganism on Ellen, discusses whether she would meet with Trump

Ellen DeGeneres interviewed Greta Thunberg on the "Ellen Show" and the teen activist discussed climate crisis, Trump, and veganism.

Despite vicious attacks online by President Trump and other climate change deniers, Greta Thunberg has gotten the support many celebrities. Leonardo Di Caprio has called her a "leader of our time." She's met with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Anne Hathaway has told her to "stay strong," and Mark Ruffalo has tweeted words of support.

Last Friday, Greta Thunberg made an appearance on the Ellen show, where she talked about the climate crisis, the impact of veganism on sustainability, social media attacks on her autism, and becoming a celebrity.

Thunberg told DeGeneres that she would not meet U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss the climate crisis if asked. “I don’t understand why I would,” she said. “I don’t see what I could tell him that he hasn’t already heard and I just think it would be a waste of time really.”

Thunberg is still shocked she’s become such a celebrity in her own right. “I would never have expected that something like that would happen. I just thought I need to do whatever I can do, and it’s obviously not going to be enough, but at least it’s something.” She says it was something she just needed to do for herself, “so I could look myself in the eye in this crisis.”
