Although we have been eagerly waiting for ''Rocko's Modern Life'' since 2017 and don't blame us, there was indeed a teaser that year during San Diego ComicCon. However, it soon fizzled out as no official release date was ever revealed. But now we have some news!
Thank you, Netflix for taking us back to our childhood. We are sincerely grateful for the fact that childhood dreams do come true. Yes, Nickelodeon's "Rocko's Modern Life" is finally getting a reboot and we can't keep calm. As reported by Bustle.
It all happened after the official Netflix Family account took to Twitter to confirm that the reboot was heading to the streaming platform. "'90s kids, dreams do come true! The Rocko's Modern Life movie is coming to Netflix this summer, for you to share with your own kids (yes, it's been that long) #RockosModernLife."

Although we have been eagerly waiting for the movie since 2017 and don't blame us, there was indeed a teaser for "Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling" that year during San Diego ComicCon. However, it soon fizzled out as no official release date was ever revealed. The original series ran for three years between 1993 to 1996.
But wait, that's not all. There's another classic Nickelodeon showing coming our way! Invader Zim, an early '00s television series that aired on the beloved network, is also heading to Netflix.
According to a plot synopsis, the Rocko's Modern Life movie is set to “bring the beloved characters back to Earth after being lost in outer space since 1996. Rocko has trouble accepting this 21st-century modern life, while Heffer and Filburt embrace every aspect of new technology, social media and the endless diversity of food trucks. Rocko wholeheartedly believes that his nostalgia for the past can save him from the tortures of the modern world.”
It's already April and there are still no updates on when and how the Rocko's Modern Life and Invader Zim movies will be released despite being completely done. This is seriously suspicious and I really think Nickelodeon and Viacom need to address this sooner than later. pic.twitter.com/adfQFIym2J— Animated Antic (@Animated_Antic) April 7, 2019
Meanwhile, on the other hand, the Invader Zim movie will return with Horvitz and Simons voicing the role for fan-favorites ZIM and GIR in "Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus." It will also have Andy Berman as Dib Membrane and Melissa Fahn as Gaz Membrane.
There have also been several additional voice actors roped in to keep the nostalgia intact from the original series. This includes Wingert and McDonald as the Almighty Tallest Irken leaders; Rodger Bumpass as Professor Membrane, Dib and Gaz’s father; Olivia d’Abo as Tak, ZIM’s Irken nemesis; and Paul Greenberg as Poonchy, one of ZIM and Dib’s human classmates. As reported by Comicbook.
And ever since fans got to know that the two classic childhood shows are heading to Netflix, Twitter users can't contain their excitement. "Dvd releases will probably be put off because of this deal but at least I'll actually be able to watch them somewhere," a Twitter user said.
Imagines a ton of folks signing up for a trial or one month just to catch these, lol.— Kyle O (@KyleOVox) May 10, 2019
Meanwhile, another added: "It looks like Static Cling and Enter the Florpus are now officially heading to Netflix! I'm so happy to see that they finally are getting released at last! Now we just have to see when they'll be released on Netflix."
A third added: "I can’t wait to watch these, I hope high ratings will lead to the shows getting another season, especially Invader Zim."
While neither movie has an official release date yet, the mere fact that Netflix has acquired the rights for both the movies gives us hope we will finally get to watch our favorite childhood shows once again.
