“I actually got with Shawn Wayans and he was like, ‘Man, we’re doing it, we’re getting it going,’” Terry told Andy Cohen.
Agreed 'White Chicks' may not have been critics' ideal comedy movie, but most people, including me, absolutely loved the laugh riot for its humor. Yes, it's not for everyone but in 2004, many loved it thanks to several iconic scenes and quotes that still ring true even today. And it is no surprise, the movie ended up grossing over $113 million at the box office, becoming one of the highest grossing comedy movies of that year.
And now there's an interesting update for all you "White Chicks" fans. A sequel has been confirmed by none other than Terry Crews. Yes, it's happening!!! Everybody loves Terry for this. Well, even Terry loves Terry. ( Brooklyn Nine-Nine, anyone?)
If you haven't seen the movie, Crews gave an interesting analogy in terms of songs, giving it a more pop reference. He said as White Chicks included Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles”, then he "thinks the modern day equivalent to that might be Carly Rae Jepsen “Call Me Maybe.” As reported by EW.
“I actually got with Shawn [Wayans] and he was like, ‘Man, we’re doing it, we’re getting it going,’” Terry said during an interview on Sunday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. And not just that, Terry also revealed he has been in great shape just to do the sequel soon. Crews played the role of a pro basketball player named Latrell Spencer in the film. “I’ve been working out for 15 years so I can do White Chicks 2, y’all! Please, please,” he joked.
And this finally puts the debate to bed if we were ever going to get a "White Chicks" sequel. So much so that even star Marlon Wayans had earlier teased fans while speaking to MTV. He said, “There have been some rumblings happening, and a lot of people want us to do it, so me and my brothers have been talking.”
Although not many details have been revealed about the White Chicks 2, we can expect the lead actors to return to the big screen pretty soon. The first White Chicks was directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans and it was written by Xavier Cook, Andy McElfresh, and Michael Anthony Snowden along with the Wayan brothers who also produced the classic comedy movie.
"Two FBI agent brothers, Marcus (Marlon Wayans) and Kevin Copeland (Shawn Wayans), accidentally foil a drug bust. As punishment, they are forced to escort a pair of socialites (Maitland Ward, Anne Dudek) to the Hamptons, where they're going to be used as bait for a kidnapper. But when the girls realize the FBI's plan, they refuse to go. Left without options, Marcus and Kevin decide to pose as the sisters, transforming themselves from African-American men into a pair of blonde, white women," reads the official synopsis of the film.
So what are you waiting for? It is time to go back 15 years and watch the classic White Chicks because no matter how many years go by, it is still one crazy funny movie.
