The 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' star is interested in depicting the man himself in the upcoming Seuss biopic, which will be directed by novelist and director Stephen Chbosky, according to a report.
If you are a huge fan of 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas', here's something that will make your day. There are rumors that Jim Carrey is in talks about playing the role of Dr. Seuss in an upcoming biography, reports We Got This Covered. With a career spanning more than four decades, Carrey has appeared in movies like Once Bitten, Peggy Sue Got Married, his breakout role as pet detective Ace Ventura: The Pet Detective, The Mask to name a few. In the 2000s, Carrey appeared in more dramatic films like The Number 23 and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Carrey has also played the role of comic book characters like Edward The Riddler, Nygma, Stanley The Mask Ipkiss, and Sal Colonel Stars & Stripes Bertolinni, and some animated characters like Ebenezer Scrooge and Horton the Elephant.
Now, the actor is reportedly in talks to appear in a third biographical movie that will be based on Dr. Seuss, the renowned American children's author, political cartoonist, and filmmaker. The actor is quite familiar with the works of Dr. Seuss. He played the role of the King of Sinful Sots in Ron Howard’s 2000 adaptation of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Since he has already portrayed characters created by Dr. Seuss, Carrey is now very much interested in depicting the man himself in Seuss, which will be directed by novelist and director Stephen Chbosky, according to the WGTC report.
The script is written by Jonathon E. Stewart and Eyal Podell, and they have also been an integral part of Sony’s Angry Birds Movie 2. The story is said to follow Dr. Seuss's development as a writer, which was developed by his relationship with fellow children’s author Helen Marion Palmer. Palmer battled with cancer and many other illnesses, and sadly, committed suicide when she found out about her husband having an affair. The script was placed third on the 2012 Black List, and it is widely regarded as one of Hollywood’s most promising un-produced scripts ever since.
Jim Carrey gave some incredible performances in movies like The Truman Show and won back-to-back Golden Globes, thereby making him one of the few actors who has won the award for both comedy and drama. Keeping all these points in mind, it seems like he is the perfect fit to be a part of the project.
