After "Parabellum's" major opening, there is no stopping John Wick and a fourth movie is already in the works.
John Wick has done it again and this time, better than ever. Released on May 17, John Wick: Chapter 3 Parabellum opened with a massive $100 million across the globe, ending the three-week reign of Marvel's Avengers: Endgame. I mean the movie was anyway expected to be a huge hit, but THIS is amazing! It has already bagged positive reviews from critics and fans as Keanu Reeves remains one of the most loved actors ever. The film is receiving appreciation from all parts of the world and turns out chapter 3 isn't the end of Wick's revenge. The hottest assassin alive is returning for another John Wick movie!
It has been a mere week since the movie's release and reports are already suggesting that a fourth movie is on cards. In fact, the release date for John Wick 4 has already been set. According to BloodyDisgusting, we don't have to wait much longer to watch John Wick on the big screen again as the movie will be coming out next year, 21 May, 2020, to be exact. And, obviously, Keanu is on board. The actor previously stated that he will keep playing Wick until the audience stops buying tickets.
...and that is not happening anytime soon, considering the third movie's massive success. Starring Keanu Reeves, Halle Berry, Laurence Fishburne, Mark Dacascos, Asia Kate Dillon, Lance Reddick, Anjelica Huston, and Ian McShane, Chad Stahelski's John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is on its way to surpassing the collection of previous Wick movies and has now set the bar HIGHER for the upcoming fourth film.
The first time we witnessed the charisma of John Wick was in 2014. The movie was a thriller packed with tons of action which was widely loved by the audience and is considered Keanu's one of the best works. The movie smashed the box office by cashing in $89 million worldwide which inspired the creators to make another sequel. John Wick: Chapter 2 was released in 2017, following the major success of the first movie. Directed by Chad Stahelski and written by Derek Kolstad once again, this sequel of John Wick did amazingly well, about four times better than the original! The film received positive feedback from the critics and the fans loved it a little too much, evidently.
In 2017, Lionsgate revealed that the third movie will be released in 2019 and here we are. "Still on the run following his assassination of Santino D'Antonio in The Continental, and with a $14 million global contract on him, John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is excommunicated from every Continental service, which forces him to fight his way out of New York City with the help of a hitwoman (Halle Berry) who still trusts him," reads the official premise of the movie which was created on a budget of $55 million.
“Whereas John’s puppy was symbolic of his wife, Halle’s two dogs are symbolic of someone she’s lost,” Stahelski told EW. He also revealed that there are a lot of action scenes filmed with and around the dogs who are Sofia's “canine assistants". Not just that, they are also willing to make more sequels. “I enjoy making these movies because there’s no limit. We create our own mythology, and we have a studio that both stay out of our way and supports us on the wacky decisions. If people go see the movie, and it makes money, and they came back to us, Keanu and I have ideas for days," he added. Check out the movie's trailer below if you haven't already.
