Following what the musical's writer said, the project received a green signal after he was initially recruited by a TV network to write a biopic regarding the controversial pop star.
He added that the team struggled with how to proceed with the allegations about the child sexual abuse that were brought against Jackson, but they came up with a creative way to tackle it.
He said, "I said, how’s this? Everything MJ has been accused of has actually been caused by his glove, which is actually an alien from outer space [and] feeds on virgin boy blood. They laughed and said, can you do the normal version?... It was morally kind of repugnant to me to do … I turned down a really big paycheck."

It's unauthorized, promises to touch on Michael's race, sexuality and controversies in a comedic way & Corey Feldman and Peter Pan are being played in this musical.

Nitzberg said that he had hoped to develop his idea into a musical, but couldn't do it sooner because of obvious reasons. When he was struggling to find funding for his project and it was then he connected with Johnny Depp’s production company. Even though the initial idea fizzled out, he showed them another idea and they were interested.

The musical is going to take inspiration from Hamilton’s book and has cast the villainous glove as the story’s narrator. Following Nitzberg, the musical is going to star both actors and life-sized puppets, and all of them will help bring some of Michael Jackson’s life to the stage, and it will also include the remaining Jackson 5, Corey Feldman, and Bubbles the Chimp.

Needless to say, this documentary is going to be a controversial one, but it will also draw attention that the music needs to be successful. This year, Michael Jackson's life has been very prominently on the headlines after the release of HBO’s documentary Leaving Neverland.
And “For the Love of a Glove” is not the only project about Jackson that is currently under development. There is another authorized broadway musical titled 'MJ' which is scheduled to hit the big screens next year.
Additionally, Bohemian Rhapsody’s producers are working on a biopic of their own and they have also promised that the darker parts of Michael Jackon’s life won’t be sanitized. 'For the Love of Glove' premieres in Los Angeles on January 25, 2020.
