Macaulay Culkin And Kathy Bates Will Have 'Crazy' Sex Scene In American Horror Story

Ryan Murphy told the Home Alone star that his character will have 'crazy, erotic sex; with Kathy Bates. To which he replied, 'This sounds like the role I was born to play.'

Ryan Murphy, the co-creator of American Horror Story, is very well known for making bold moves and making headlines with his casting choices for the show. From Jessica Lange to Lady Gaga, we have seen them all and loved every bit of their performance. With the upcoming American Horror Story season 10, Murphy managed to take everyone by surprise after announcing that Macaulay Culkin is joining the cast.

The news was announced on February 10 and while the details of the project are being kept tightly under the wraps, Murphy has managed to surprise his fans once again during an interview with E! News. Murphy said, "I have always loved Macaulay Culkin's work. I loved everything that he's done, I love the stuff he did in Home Alone, I also loved the sort of the older, more recent stuff that he did. And he hasn't worked in a while."

He continued, "So, I have this very, very great insane part. And I asked to speak to him on the phone and he said OK. When I cast, I cast, I never let people read things, usually. I said, 'OK, here's the pitch.' And I told them the character and I told him he has crazy, erotic sex with Kathy Bates and does other things. And he paused and he goes, 'This sounds like the role I was born to play.' So, he signed up right then and there."

Murphy further added, saying, "We're waiting for the crisis to be over because all those scripts are written and I'm excited for him to play that part. I'm excited for him to be in my world because I think...I'm gonna want to do a lot of things with him if he wants to work because I think he's fascinating and interesting, and I think he has a soul. There's both a lightness and darkness with Macaulay Culkin that I'm attracted to."

Indeed it is pretty shocking news since it's such an odd pairing, but if you think about it American Horror Story has always boldly embraced the weird. Kathy Bates is certainly no stranger to this horror anthology and has appeared in five previous seasons from 2013 which are AHS: Coven, AHS: Freak Show, AHS: Hotel, AHS: Roanoke, and AHS: Apocalypse. Regarded as one of the favorites, fans were particularly happy after Murphy announced her return considering she did not appear in AHS: 1984.

Since Bates and Culkin have never worked together, it will be very interesting to see them together on screen. By the age of 12, Culkin had already appeared in hit movies like Uncle Buck, Home Alone, and My Girl, not to forget that he was a Golden Globe nominee and made a fortune for himself and never had to work again. In an interview with Esquire, in February, Culkin said, "I enjoy acting. I enjoy being on set. I don't enjoy a lot of the other things that come around it. No matter how much I act like a curmudgeonly old man, it's still fun to get back in the saddle once in a while and play around."

Last year, he played the role of a drunken tour boat operator in Seth Green's debut movie, and also guest-starred in Hulu's Dollface and WWE's The Edge and Christian Show. Apart from Bates and Culkin, other cast members of AHS 10 include Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Billie Lourd, Finn Wittrock, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Leslie Grossman, and Angelica Ross.
