FOX may have canceled Lucifer but there is no stopping the Devil. Netflix has welcomed Satan with open arms and he's returning with a fourth season!
And, he's baccccccck! Just when FOX thought they could stop the devil, he found a new home at Netflix, surprise b*tch. The comedy horror drama created by Tom Kapinos starred Lauren German as Detective Chloe Decker, Kevin Alejandro as Detective Daniel "Dan" Espinoza, D. B. Woodside as Amenadiel, Lesley-Ann Brandt as Mazikeen, and Rachael Harris as Dr. Linda Martin and Tom Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar debuted with a huge rating but FOX said that the show's viewership dropped low after a while and canceled the show after three seasons, last year in May.
Thousands of fans wrote to Netflix, asking them to get hold of the series and well, Netflix always listens to their fans. Lucifer was saved by the streaming giant and revived for a fourth season, which will have 10 episodes and from the looks of it, it seems like the upcoming season is going to be much more wild and crazy. Lucifer has dropped a teaser for the fourth season and fans are absolutely losing it!
"Welcome home @LuciferNetflix" Netflix tweeted along with the teaser. In the video, Lauren German and Inbar Lavi repeatedly thank the fans for saving the show, saying that the new season wouldn't be happening if it wasn't for the fans, which is very true. Our favorite devil, however, is seen being lazy as ever and comes sipping coffee from a Netflix cup, wearing a robe which has Netflix's symbol on it. We get it, you feel at 'home.'
Tom also teases that the new season will have lots of romance and naked scenes as he takes his robe off and walks away, butt naked, and if you listen closely, you can hear the fans of Lucifer across the globe screaming with excitement. "IM CRYING OMFG I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING, NETFLIX I LOVE YOU SO MUCH," tweeted a die-hard Lucifer fan. "I'm actually tearing up over this. It's really happening!! WE HELPED DO THIS LUCIFAM! I'm so proud..." added another.
As far as the cast is concerned, Tom Ellis and Lauren German are reprising their roles as Lucifer Morningstar and Detective Chloe Decker, obviously, but Kevin Alejandro will also be back as Detective Dan Espinoza, Lesley-Ann Brandt as Mazikeen, Aimee Garcia as Ella Lopez and Rachael Harris as Dr Linda Martin. Inbar Levi is also joining the star cast of the show. The release date of the new season has been kept hush-hush by Netflix but we do know some details about what the season is going to be about.
Chloe, it is all about Chloe and her trying to wrap her head around Lucifer's discovery. “She wouldn’t just accept it right away. She’s going to go through all the emotions that we’ve been through, the audience,” co-showrunner Modrovich told TV Line. “For her to be able to see his struggle, every single side of him, and she is going to feel a little bit like what he says in the penultimate episode, which is ‘I feel like you’ve seen one side of me.'”
Also, since the show is on Netflix now, it's gonna get REALLY graphic and according to Ellis, we are going to see his bum on the screen. “One of the things that we have to be careful about as well is that the reason the show was so popular was because of the way it was. We don’t want to mess around too much with that. Obviously, there are certain different boundaries that we can play within now. I think Joe Henderson, our showrunner, has been adamant that he wants to have my bum on screen for three seasons and now we can finally do that.”
"Netflix really wanted to have Lucifer because they really love the show that we already had," Tom revealed at a Comicon event last year. He also stressssed at the 'bum showing' part but added that it won't be anything 'vulgar.' "There were certain restrictions that we had when we were on network television that meant that maybe we couldn’t do as much as we wanted. So things like my bum, which I was never allowed to show before, and lots of people want to see it, really: there may be some bum shots this season.…There will be multiple bum shots, certainly, after a scene we shot the other day. I also want to stress — I think one of the reasons people like our show is because it doesn’t go all the way there. It’s about suggestion, it's about getting away with it, it’s about being cheeky and not vulgar, and we’re still being careful that we aren’t going to go into vulgarity. Everything’s justified."
So, fourth season on Netflix? Check. Original cast? Check. Tom Ellis' bum? Check. Can it get any better for Lucifer fans? Possibly not! Who's excited? Watch the full teaser below!
