First Trailer Of 'Lucifer' Season 5 Is Here And Reveals The Devil's Twin Brother

Looks like season 5 will be one 'hell' of a show.

It was only recently we reported that Netflix has renewed Lucifer for a sixth and final season and now the streaming giant treated us with an absolute jaw-dropping trailer for season 5. Netflix unveiled the first trailer for the first eight episodes on Monday morning. Details for the fifth season took a very long time to be out, but now we have a full-length trailer for the new episodes which will reveal some of the biggest surprises that are awaiting the whole gang.

Showrunner Ildy Modrovich teased the fans on Twitter by saying that they’ll love Detective Dan Espinoza even more after season 5, and the show also has some experimental installments up its sleeve. The trailer for season 5 definitely proved that to be true and has made us, even more, intrigued to watch it now. It begins with Chloe trying to deal with her life without Lucifer in it since he returned to Hell at the end of season 4.

While trying to handle her heartbreak, she starts teaming up and partying with Maze, but to her surprise, Lucifer shows up at the crime scene and she kisses him with a lot of passion. But there's one problem. He's not Lucifer, but his twin brother Michael. Unlike Lucifer, Michael has a bizarre American accent, terrible taste in clothes, and wants to take over Lucifer's life. He says, "I'm not gonna break Lucifer's life. I'm gonna take it."

The official synopsis for the trailer reads, "In the stunning fifth season, the stakes are higher than ever. Secrets will be revealed, beloved characters will die, and we’ll finally get an answer to the question, ‘Will they or won’t they?’” Needless to say, the promo definitely delivers its promise to be full of twists, which is eerily similar to the show's fate. Lucifer was picked up by Netflix after being dropped by Fox and it turned out to be an irresistible watch. It was renewed for a fifth season just 29 days after Season 4’s release.

Lucifer is a fantasy comedy-drama that revolves around Lucifer Morningstar, a fallen angel who is tired and bored of being the King of Hell. So he leaves his kingdom and becomes a consultant with the LAPD.

This version of Lucifer is based on the character created by Neil Gaiman for The Sandman comic-book series. Lucifer has superhuman strength, invulnerability, and the power to make anyone confess their secret desires. As the story progresses, Lucifer and his allies face numerous supernatural threats, but it looks like they will be facing the most challenging one in season 5.

According to a report by Entertainment Weekly, the tenth episode of the show, titled Bloody Celestial Karaoke Jam is supposedly going to be a 'bloody musical' and the Devil himself will break into song and dance. Showrunner Ildy Modrovich said, "We wanted to have a real grounded story reason why they’re singing and dancing, and not just, ‘Oh, this is going to be the one where everybody sings and dance’. It’s been a little game of Tetris [planning the episode] but it’s super fun. It’s going to be amazing. It’s going to be just such a bucket list thing for me.

Singer Debbie Johnson will also make an appearance in this musical episode as a controlling mother but that's all we know about it for now. The news outlet also released some pictures of season five’s upcoming noir episode which will explore Lucifer's first-ever case and set against the backdrop of old Hollywood. Modrovich added, "Tom Ellis is made for this style. He kind of is Cary Grant. I think there’s always been something about his portrayal of Lucifer [that’s] old school, that harkens back to the extravagance and elegance of old Hollywood and just noir.’”
