Music is truly a universal language that goes beyond just humans. And Faa Mai, an adorable mama elephant is proof that a good song or a lullaby is all one needs to feel relaxed.
In an interesting turn of events last year, when Lek Chailert, the founder of the Elephant Nature Park in Thailand, was busy interacting with a few visitors, she was interrupted by someone. As reported by The Dodo.
It was none other than 9-year-old Faa Mai, one of the elephant residents in the nature park. And everyone in there knew about the close relationship between the Indian elephant and her caretaker.
The duo has been inseparable ever since Faa Mai was rescued as a calf and taken to the Elephant Nature Park in northern Thailand.
Faa Mai has grown up listening to Lek's soul-stirring lullabies and she wants a baby elephant to listen to it as well. She basically wanted the baby elephant to get the same love from Lek that she got growing up.
Although when Lek was being urged away from her visitors, she had no idea what Faa Mai was upto. But then Faa Mai pulled her caretaker towards the baby elephant with her trunk wrapped around her waist.
Whenever Lek tried to move away, Faa Mai directed her to the baby elephant. And then once they reached the baby elephant, Faa Mai looks at Lek and patiently waits. “She wants to adopt [her] as her own,” Lek explained. And that's when she knew what Faa Mai wanted: a song.
“Faa Mai wanted me to sing a lullaby her little friend, as she is so fond when I sing a lullaby to her,” Lek said. “It’s so beautiful to see my little girl who has such a heart of care. I am so proud of this girl.”
The beautiful video of the duo had gone viral for all the right reasons and it is truly heartwarming. You can see Lek kneel down in the grass as both of the elephants hold each other's trunks. And she starts singing, and they can be seen enjoying the beautiful lullaby.
And as expected, the baby elephant looks tired and sleepy. She leans down for a rub from Lek and then she stretches her large body out in the grass underneath a tree.
