The 37-year-old claims that ever since he started consuming his own pee, his body feels healthier than ever.
What do you do when you wake up every morning? Read a newspaper? Go for a walk? Scroll through your Facebook feed? Well, this man, he um, drinks his own urine. "What the f*ck?" Yes. Not only does he feast on his own 'produce', but he also believes that doing so is really great for him and is doing wonders for his body. Fabian Farquharson, a 37-year-old man from Sheffield, claims that ever since he started drinking his urine he has been feeling happier and healthier. Gross? not to him. If anything, he says his pee tastes like beer and he doesn't mind drinking it for his health. Weird flex but okay.
An interior designer by profession, Fabian has been gulping down his pee for more than three years and he is extremely happy with the results. According to DailyMail, the man started doing so after he read about the 'health benefits' of drinking urine and how it has 'helped' several people across the globe. Not only does he drink his fresh pee, but he also stores and ages it like wine and consumes it later.
Fabian starts his day with a fresh pint of his pee juice, which he claims tastes like bitter ale, followed by about 300-400ml of his stored urine. He has been following the same routine for years and he believes it has made him smarter, happier and healthier. "I'd been researching alternative medicines when I read about drinking aged urine. I've always been open-minded about that sort of thing, so I decided to give it a go and drink it fresh."
He admits initially he had problems when he started the bizarre health regime, "It tasted a bit like a bitter ale initially, it was quite strong but not a terrible taste and I had no problem finishing the glass." But soon after gulping what our body excretes for a reason, immediately Fabian noticed results and positive changes in his body, "It was about half an hour later that I started to feel amazing, I was absolutely bursting with energy."
And he is soooo happy with the results, he says he will never stop drinking his own urine and he highly recommends it to everyone. "I'd never go a day without it and would recommend it to anyone." You do you man, but I think I'll stick to normal ways of keeping my body healthy like exercising, eating fruits, avoiding junk, basically anything which doesn't require me to consume my own waste material.
Fabian says he started researching about alternative medical therapies when doctors couldn't get to the bottom of the stomach pain he was experiencing. "I was traveling a lot for work and eating junk food - Burger King, McDonald's, anything convenient. I was getting a lot of pain in my stomach and scans couldn't find an ulcer or anything that could explain it, so I started looking online more and more."
Before starting the pee regime, Fabian turned into a fruitarian and only consumed fruits. "I started to eliminate 'normal' foods and ate only fruit. I'll use mangoes, pineapple, strawberries - any fruit really, and add in chia seeds, flax seeds, and hemp powder to make a smoothie. I quickly started to feel amazing. I had more energy than I had in years, and could feel my well being improving," he revealed.
It was in 2015 he discovered that some people drink their own pee to keep themselves healthy and he decided to give it a try and well, he wasn't 'piss'ed with the results. He absolutely loved how his pee made him feel and he started drinking it regularly and storing it in jars and bottles until it reaches his desired level of PH. "I store it in glass containers like mason jars, label it with the date and then leave it for around 30 days." Wokay.
On a different note, there is literally no scientific evidence out there which backs the claim that drinking urine is actually good for the human body. If anything, it is equivalent to drinking back the toxins your body excreted. "It is a common belief that urine is sterile - which it normally is if you don't have a problem with your renal tract,” Dr. Zubair Ahmed told BBC Three. “However, once it leaves the body, it can be contaminated with certain bacteria - and ingesting this bacteria can make you feel unwell and can lead to serious complications...The whole point of urinating is for the kidneys to filter the blood and it gets rid of any excess fluid and salts, as well as minerals...When you drink urine, it will eventually come back out again and be much more concentrated, which could lead to gut problems. The kidneys will have to work hard to filter out all the excess again, putting strain on them."
And there you have it. I'll just stick to drinking water, thanks.
