Director Michael Goi recently warned viewers regarding the scare quotient of the horror film. Have you seen it?
How many time have we watched a horror movie all alone in the night thinking it's just fiction and slept with our lights on? Well, I can speak for myself and I have done that on more occasions than I like to admit. Recently, one horror movie dating back to 2011 has gone viral once again and the director of the movie is warning viewers not to watch it at night or watch it alone.

Michael Goi, the director of Megan Is Missing, who has also worked on other projects like American Horror Story and Salem took to the video-sharing app to offer some insights. He said one of the film's leads, actress Amber Perkins, informed him that the movie was "exploding on TikTok at the moment, reported Comicbook. He said, "Hello, my friends on TikTok. This is Michael Goi, the writer/director of Megan Is Missing, and I got a text from Amber Perkins, the lead actress in my movie, that it was exploding on TikTok at the moment. I didn't get to give you the customary warnings that I used to give people before they watched Megan Is Missing, which are: Do not watch the movie in the middle of the night. Do not watch the movie alone."

as you guys may know, megan is missing is trending on tiktok, and it is a very triggering film. if you’re interested in watching this, i suggest you watch this video from the writer first. pic.twitter.com/kzjjhAE8JQ
He continued, "And if you see the words photo number one pop up on your screen, you have about four seconds to shut off the movie if you're already kind of freaking out before you start seeing things that maybe you don't want to see. So apologies to those who are already posting about how the movie freaked them out, but fair warning to those of you who are still contemplating watching the film."

In just a matter of one day, Goi's post has garnered 4.6 million views and 1.4 million likes on the app. Megan is Missing is a 2011 psychological horror film that tells the story of a teenager who disappears after meeting an online acquaintance. An investigation takes place which is launched by her best friend Amy Herman. TikTok users shared their own reactions after watching the movie and now I am debating if I should watch it alone.
I love horror films like midsummer and hereditary that ya know can be kinda graphic, but I just watched “Megan is missing” and I have never been more disturbed. It is viral on TikTok rn but just a trigger warning it has realistic re-enactments of r*pe, abduction, and torture.

One person wrote, "Please watch this film at your own risk. It is something I will never watch again. I am forever traumatized." Another one added, "This is hands down the most traumatizing film I've ever seen and I am not okay. Please be made aware before watching." The 2011 horror movie uses found footage format to tell the story which makes it even more realistic and scarier. While it is not based on a true story, the premise of the movie was inspired by various real-life child abduction cases. The official synopsis of the movie reads, "A teenager (Rachel Quinn) disappears after meeting an online acquaintance (Dean Waite).

Goi finished filming the movie in 2006 but it didn't release until 2011 because he failed to find a distributor until Anchor Bay agreed to a limited theatrical release. Upon it's release, the movie has been criticised for depicting graphic violence and oversexualizing teenage girls. While some countries like New Zealand have banned the movie and called it exploitative, Goi maintains that he intentionally made the movie graphic in order to unnerve the audience.
