Miley Cyrus Hits Back At People Who Think She Deserved To Be Groped: 'Don't F**k With My Freedom'

The 'Wrecking Ball' hitmaker also reposted critical comments made to her on social media, including “You wanted to be ‘sexy’, what do you expect?”, along with the hashtag #stillnotaskingforit.

At a time when women are fighting for basic rights (yes basic), fearing for their safety and often being the victims of abuse on social media, people blaming the victim is common in all these issues. You could be the biggest pop star in the world and yet, some keyboard warriors will have the audacity to say "you asked for it."

Sadly, Miley Cyrus was on the receiving end of sexual harassment after a man grabbed and kissed her following a festival performance in Spain last weekend.  She was leaving her hotel in Barcelona with her husband Liam Hemsworth when the incident took place. But thankfully, Miley's security detail pulled her to safety within seconds. But it was too late.

Miley was in Barcelona for Primavera Sound 2019 and had performed at the music festival on May 31 as part of her promotion for new EP "She Is Coming". It released on that same day.

As disturbing as the incident sounds, it got even worse when many people on social media were completely vile with the victim-blaming. Many even blamed Miley and said that she lets people touch her during concerts. But little do they realize the concept of consent.

According to Guardian, Miley took to Twitter to give it back to all those who blamed her for the incident. Captioning the footage, she wrote: “She can be wearing what she wants. She can be a virgin. She can be sleeping with 5 different people. She can be with her husband. She can be with her girlfriend. She can be naked. She CAN’T be grabbed without her consent. #DontF*ckWithMyFreedom.”

The 'Wrecking Ball' hitmaker also reposted critical comments made to her on social media, including “You wanted to be ‘sexy’, what do you expect?”, along with the hashtag #stillnotaskingforit.

Here are some of the comments that blamed Miley for being groped. Yes, that's how ridiculous it sounds. After the groping video went viral, one social media user wrote, “You wanted to be ‘sexy,’ what do you expect?” and another said, “Well what do they expect when they dress like wh*res.”

However, many took Miley's side and condemned the actions of the man. Many real fans also accused those who blamed Miley for this unfortunate incident. 2 women saying “what would you expect”, when referring to how another woman was dressed as she got groped. seriously sickening how the patriarchy still controls the mind of those it’s meant to hurt and belittle, especially in the generations prior to millennials, a Twitter user said

Meanwhile, another added: Women should NEVER be responsible for how a man behaves. Each individual person is responsible for their own actions in life. I'm so sick of girls/women being told how to dress to compensate for men's inability to know right from wrong. And shame on the woman that commented.

A third added: Absolutely sicking to how people have the nerve to blame people to being groped I’m not being funny or anything but they way we dress. The makeup we wear. OUR attitude. DOES NOT give you the right to come up to us and do what you want.
