Murder Mystery was watched by over 30 million unique viewers on its opening weekend, an all-time Netflix record. Of course, a sequel was always on the cards.
When Murder Mystery released in June, little did Netflix or even the stellar star cast of the movie realize that it would be breaking some serious records.
Murder Mystery was watched by over 30 million accounts during its opening weekend, breaking quite a few records for a Netflix film. And now with that kind of reception and love for the movie, a sequel was always on the cards.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, we will now be getting a sequel to Murder Mystery that starred Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston in the lead roles. Although it's not confirmed yet but there have been talks with James Vanderbilt to pen the script once again.
If you haven't seen the movie yet, Murder Mystery focuses on the life of Nick (Adam Sandler), a New York City cop and his wife Audrey (Jennifer Aniston), a hairdresser.
In order to spice up their marriage, they decide to go to Europe for a dream vacation. As fate would have it, they end up meeting some interesting people and one of them invites the duo to a party of an elderly billionaire.
However, the billionaire gets murdered and the couple become the prime suspects. How they come out of this situation and find out the real killer forms the crux of the plot.
Although there is no official confirmation about the cast and it is still in early stages, the THR report said both the stars Sandler and Jennifer Aniston are expected to return to reprise their roles from the first movie.
