The young star who played one of Adam Sandler's kids in 'Grown Ups' suffered a seizure so fatal, he couldn't recover from it.
Best known for his role as Luke Ross in popular Disney show Jessie and Carlos in the Descendants television films, Cameron Boyce passed away on Saturday (July 6). The 20-year-old rising actor suffered a seizure and died in his sleep before the paramedics could do anything. Boyce was reportedly battling an 'ongoing medical condition.' "It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron," a spokesperson for Cameron released a statement announcing his death.“He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated."
"The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him. We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother," the statement read further. The news of Boyce passing away has come as a shock to his fans, family, and co-stars, and they are finding it hard to believe that he was taken away so soon.
Adam Sandler, who played Cameron's father in Grown Ups and Grown Ups 2 took to his Twitter and left a heartfelt message in his memory. “Too young. Too sweet. Too funny. Just the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around. Loved that kid. Cared so much about his family. Cared so much about the world. Thank you, Cameron, for all you gave to us. So much more was on the way. All our hearts are broken. Thinking of your amazing family and sending our deepest condolences," Adam tweeted along with a black and white picture of Cameron.
Boyce's Jessie co-stars are also deeply mourning their loss. “I don’t even know where to start… I am at a loss for words. I never thought in a million years I would be writing this. Cam, you were one of a kind. My heart will be forever broken. I am so happy that I got to spend almost every day with you on set, you gave the best hugs. I wish I would have hugged you tighter when I saw you a couple of months ago. Thank you so much for being the big brother I never had… I am so distraught and I cannot stop crying! I love you so much… fly high 👼🏼 💔😢 Gods best Angel," Skai Jackson, who played his on-screen sister Zuri in the show, wrote on her Instagram.
Peyton List, who played Emma Ross, also remembered her brother Luke, "Cameron The boy whose contagious laugh I can still hear The boy who left everyone feeling hopeful and full of love He was younger than me but taught me how to spread love and kindness more than anyone that has ever been in my life. He lifted everyone around him and inspired/pushed me to be a better person than I ever would've been without his guidance, patience, and love. I can barely see my eyes anymore from crying so hard. Cameron, I love you with every ounce of me, and I thank you for the time I had with you, being in my life, and being my brother forever and always. There is a hole in my heart that will never heal left for you. I will never stop talking about you. My kids will hear about you."
Born in LA, Cameron breathed his last in LA as well. A born actor, he made his movie debut when he was only 9-years-old in the classic horror film Mirrors. He later appeared in Sandler's Grown Ups and finally made a big breakthrough in Disney's Jessie. He was all set to star in HBO's latest show Mrs. Fletcher along with American Satan's TV spinoff called Paradise City alongside Andy Biersack and Benjamin Bruce. Cameron also did whatever he could to help the environment and was honored with the Pioneering Spirit Award at the Thirst Gala. He raised $30,000 to help build wells for drinking water in Swaziland.
