Speaking of Robert Englund, although there is still no official confirmation about him reprising his role as Freddie Krueger, one can't help but notice how him teasing a final performance, could make us believe all over again. Robert recently spoke to the public at Monster Mania and said, “We need a Freddy that can do the next eight movies – or seven, I don’t want them to remake Part 1 again, I’m not Freddy anymore, you guys. I could do one more…probably. If you shot me up with Vitamin C".
I met Robert Englund a few years ago after the line got cut off every other time I’d tried. It took a while, but when it happened, it meant a lot to me and it still does!! He was such a pleasure. pic.twitter.com/1p53dFRtdH— 🛸The Audrameda Galaxy👽 *SU MOVIE SPOILERS* (@itsaaudraw) August 26, 2019
This was confirmed by Dead Entertainment [H/T Bloody Disgusting] who were present at Monster Mania, reporting that he told the crowd: "But here’s the thing. I can’t do eight more, you guys. So we need a new actor that you guys believe in and trust and love that can go the distance.”
Robert also revealed that he sees Kevin Bacon, who previously starred in the original Friday the 13th, as a great Freddie Krueger. "So we need a new actor that you guys believe in and trust and love that can go the distance.” Englund added “He’s not a kid anymore either but the rumor I’ve heard that I like is Kevin Bacon. Kevin loves horror. He’s a real actor. He’s a character actor. Kevin was great in Tremors. Kevin was great in Stir of Echoes. And I’ve heard this rumor. We need someone like that to take it on. And re-do it, exploiting all of the new technology.”
