There have been quite a few names popping up every now and then on which lead actor would replace Ben Affleck after he quit playing Batman. And now we may have just got our next Caped Crusader.
So who would be the next caped crusader? There have been quite a few names popping up every now and then on which lead actor would replace Ben Affleck after he called it quits to play Batman. But now, after a lot of deliberations, we are fairly certain there is an actor who could be roped in to play the iconic DC character.
And it is none other than Robert Pattinson. As reported exclusively by Variety. Yes, the Twilight star who has often faced severe criticism for his role in the teen vampire drama is most likely to play the next Batman in Matt Reeves’ forthcoming superhero film, which hits theaters on June 25, 2021. But before you freak out, there is no official confirmation as it is not a done deal yet. However, Pattinson is the top choice and it’s expected to be announced shortly.
Meanwhile, Pattinson has been on a roll ever since the start of this year. He was recently confirmed to play a big role in Christopher Nolan's upcoming magnum opus. Pattinson will be joining John David Washington in the next film from the director of Inception, according to an exclusive from Collider. It is expected that Nolan will produce it along with his wife and longtime collaborator, Emma Thomas. Warner Bros. is said to release the movie on July 17, 2020, as production begins this summer.
Although not much is known about his next film, we are pretty excited to know what Reeves will bring on screen this time. And as always, we can definitely have really high expectations from the master director.
Reeves was also the genius mind behind the last two “Planet of the Apes” sequels. And following this, he took over the directorial duties from Ben Affleck to direct the next Batman movie. After Justice League, Affleck decided to quit his role as Batman and Warner Bros allowed Reeves to pick his own Bruce Wayne. Reeves will be producing “The Batman” with his “Planet of the Apes” collaborator Dylan Clark.
When Ben Affleck was asked why he decided to drop out of 'The Batman' project, he revealed that he did not find the script to be interesting. "That was part of the problem," said Affleck. "We worked on the script, I was trying to figure out how to crack it, and I was never happy enough with it where I thought it was worth going out and making it because I just didn't want to do a version that I wasn't really excited by, so I still don't know."
The actor also spoke about his attempts to work on the film two years ago. At that time, Affleck said that he didn't want to rush into things and work on it a bit more till he was confident about it.
"I don’t have a script that’s ready yet. My timetable is I’m not going to make a movie until there’s a script that I think is good because I’ve been on the end of the things when you make movies when you have a script that’s not good yet and it doesn’t pan out," Affleck earlier told IGN in 2016.
