The best horror-comedy is returning to Netflix this March and the trailer will have you laughing out loud.
Bon appétit! The weirdest family ever is coming back to slash some throats on Netflix! That's right, the Hammonds are all set to return for the third installment of the horror-comedy show Santa Clarita Diet and after dropping a hilarious announcement teaser, Netflix has released a full-length trailer of the upcoming season and we simply cannot wait! Ever since the second season of the show aired, we have been desperately waiting to see our favorite real estate agents once again and, well, it looks like our wait is finally over!
"True love never dies? Santa Clarita Diet Season 3 is coming March 29. Starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant," wrote Netflix along with the trailer which opens with our favorite monster Sheila (Drew) and her human husband Joel (Timothy) sitting outside in a car. Sheila wishes to spend eternity with Joel, asks him to spend 1000 years with her and offers to turn him into a monster, too, by biting him. Oh, boy.
"It's not that I don't want to be with you. It's about what I might become. Once I make that decision I can never go back," Joel says. The trailer also hints at the Knights of Serbia hunting for the Hammonds. Talking about the theme of season 3, showrunner Fresco told The Hollywood Reporter, "We like the idea, and this is something we'll track into the third season, that there is this mysterious group out there, Knights of Serbia, who are the descendants of the original Knights of Serbia, all the way back 500 years ago, that are tasked with finding the undead, killing them and stopping an outbreak."
"There's always more story. The whole season one took place over two weeks and season two takes place over two weeks, so they're still only about a month into this incredible change that they're going through. We like the idea that there are other people out there – not the government – that are looking into this, and it's a threat to Sheila and obviously to Joel also, so we'll track that story into season three," he told The Hollywood Reporter.
The full original cast of the show i.e. Drew Barrymore, Timothy Olyphant, Aaron Kaplan, Tracy Katsky, Chris Miller, Ember Truesdell, and Ruben Fleischer is likely to return to play their respective roles, and the season will have ten half-hour episodes to satisfy your bloody hunger. Soon after the second season was out on Netflix, the writers of the show started working on another season, hoping Netflix will pick it up and, well, our wish was granted.
Santa Clarita Diet first premiered on Netflix in 2017 and immediately caught the attention of the public and won their hearts. The show received major positive reviews and critical praise. The show is full of horror, comedy, puns and a lot of GORE. "Santa Clarita Diet serves up an excellent cast, frequent laughs, and an engaging premise – but the level of gore might not be to everyone's taste," reads the review of the show by Rotten Tomatoes.
The ratings and the viewership of the Netflix show shot up along with its popularity and Santa Clarita Diet was renewed for a second season which aired in 2018 successfully and managing to keep up with the expectations of the audience. Both the seasons had ten episodes each, and the third installment of the highly anticipated show will follow the same pattern. When are the Hammonds coming back, you ask? This March 29, so mark your calendars!
The chemistry between Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant is just beyond words and once you watch the show, you'll feel like watching it forever. “In this crazy world we need to laugh and I wanted to be part of something funny like that was medicine for me to survive in this current climate. The show is a metaphor for gluttony; about a marriage and a relationship. From E.T., I’ve been raised on this rule that you can go anywhere as long as it is in suburbia, because we all live on planet Earth and have a backyard and a family of some type, and I can be transported from aliens, zombies, time travel or the undead, but I need to go back to the humanity of everyday life and how relationships function,” Drew said about her role in an interview.
Are you excited for Santa Clarita Diet season 3? People are absolutely loving the trailer and so are we! "FINALLY!!! I WAS WAITING FOR THIS! I watched this show only 3 months ago, but I instantly became attached to the characters because they're so funny and you can feel their bond through the show & Drew and Timothy work so damn good together! This show is really underrated and I hope this isn't the last season because it became one of my favorite shows!" commented a fan on the video. "OMG YES! A trailer! Finally! SCD is on my top 5 Netflix shows & I need the new season NOW," added another. Check out the trailer below!
