'The Witcher' Will Have 'Interesting Surprises' Before Season 2 Hits Netflix, Says Producer

Netflix's 'The Witcher' was one of the most-watched series of 2019 and it comes as no surprise that the second season will be bigger and better.

The Witcher is experiencing a bonafide success among its audience. While the show has received some negative reviews from critics, there is no doubt that the audience is enjoying the series and many are looking forward to the second season. Incidentally,  season 2 of the show was renewed and ordered by Netflix even before season 1 was released.

Fans have a pretty long wait ahead of them since Henry Cavill's Geralt of Rivia will only be seen again on your TV screens sometime around 2021. While Netflix has not announced any dates, yet, it looks like it may have something up its sleeve to keep its fans entertained before season 2 arrives.

According to redanianintelligence, executive producer Tomek Baginski in a conversation with Telewizja wPolsce teased that they "are planning a few more interesting surprises between seasons, but I will not say exactly what will happen." Additionally, according to a previous report, some fans believe they know what Baginski is referring to.  The report claimed that a tie-in animated Witcher series starring minor characters in the show might have been in works and would be released between season 1 and 2 of The Witcher.

During that time when the report was published, there was little to no reason to doubt the validity of the report, but now, it seems like it is a possible likelihood. While speaking to IGN Poland, Baginski said, "I don’t want to give away too much here, but who knows if we won’t see 'The Witcher' in this style. However, these are things I would rather not talk about too much for now.”

At this juncture, it's mostly speculations, so do take it with a grain of salt. Scripts for the second season have been completed and the series will soon enter production. The series stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Ciri and Joey Batey as Jaskier. Season 1 is available for streaming on Netflix.
