The Schenck Mansion is a 146-year-old bed and breakfast regarded as one of the most haunted places in Vevay, Indiana and you can now spend a night at this eerie mansion. The history of the town and its surrounding areas is quite fascinating. The B&B is one of the most historic places around the city and it is along the Ohio River in Indiana.
At 146 years old, the Schenck Mansion Bed & Breakfast Inn is a beautiful getaway spot, but it is also said to be one of the most haunted buildings in the area. The mansion was built in 1874 and it stands on the top of the hill that is just outside the river in Vevay, Indiana.
The B&B was constructed by the Schenck family and they made their fortune by shipping hay from Switzerland County and many other businesses. It was then transformed into a bed and breakfast inn and is regarded as one of the best in the region.
Even though the Schenck family built this lavish mansion, they barely lived in that house, with good reason. As it goes with most of the historic buildings, quite a few ghost stories are attached to it. Some people of the area believe that the property where the house is built once suffered from a tragic fire where people lost their lives and maybe this is where all the hauntings started. The house passed down many hands and even sat unoccupied for a few years, but it was finally bought restored, and it serves as a bed and breakfast inn and welcomes guests to spend the night. The mansion is built in the center of an 11 acre of land and the surroundings are absolutely beautiful.
There are five rooms available in this beautiful inn that comes with five rooms and one of them is a suite. Each room comes with its own private bathroom, king or queen beds, luxurious bedding, plush bathrobes, flat-screen TVs, and well-connected wifi. There is also ample space in case you happen to share the room with a few ghosts. Some of the stories that involve seeing the ghosts don't necessarily come from guests, but they have told quite a few unsettling stories.
Any historical monument comes with its share of ghost stories but that should never discourage anyone from vacationing in this beautiful mansion. The area surrounding the mansion remains beautiful throughout the year and there are also a lot of places to explore in nearby Vevay and Madison, Indiana. The Schenck Mansion Bed & Breakfast Inn tells a lot of stories and even if you don't believe in ghosts, it is very much worth a visit.
