Started with just 5, the Griffith house now proudly displays over 3000 lit pumpkins, attracting thousands of tourists every year.
Stop what you are doing and add this spooky house to your Halloween bucket list! Situated in West Virginia, this mansion displays not one or ten but over 3000 carved Jack O' Lanterns and it is the most beautiful thing ever. The owner of the house - Ric Griffith started small with only five pumpkins years ago and kept adding more and more to his gorgeous pumpkin decor which led to people traveling from far off to come visit the house, as reported by Parade.
Now, the house is a renowned Halloween attraction which brings in over 30,000 tourists every year. The centerpiece of the Ceredo-Kenova Autumnfest event, Griffith covers his whole house with uniquely carved pumpkins and it is a sight to behold. Of course, putting together such a huge number of pumpkins out is not easy so the generous old man gets help from locals who happily come decorate the house with him. Wholesome!
A pharmacist by profession, Griffith has no plans of stopping the tradition anytime soon. “It’s become a tradition for many people in our immediate area, and it feels good to keep that going,” he says. The fest kicks off this 26th October and if you love Halloween as much as we do, you need to give this place a visit! Get the directions and more details here.
In addition to this, there are several other pumpkin displays which deserve your attention. Autumn at the Arboretum, an annual festival, celebrates the colors of the fall in a totally Instagram friendly way. Kicking off this September 21st, the Dallas Arboretum fall display is one of a kind and it proudly features over 90,000 pumpkins! In addition to painting a beautiful fall scenery, the display usually follows a theme and its theme for the year is 'It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.' 'Named one of “America’s Best Pumpkin Festivals” by Fodor’s Travel, the festival features breathtaking colors of fall including 150,000 autumn flowers accented by pumpkins, gourds, and squash,' read the event details. You can find out more about it here.
Another great display can be found at Sleepy Hollow called The Great Jack-O’-Lantern Blaze. The biggest Halloween event of the area, The Great Jack O' Lantern Blaze is bringing together over 7,000 hand-carved pumpkins, illuminating in the dark. Scheduled to begin this Sept 20, the event will run all through November. Grab your tickets here.
Disney's real-life Halloweentown packs a great display as well and if you're a fan of the classic, you defo need to go there. Situated in St. Helens, Oregon, the tiny place gets in the 'Spirit of Halloweentown' every year and it is Halloween there throughout October! The month-long celebration of the Disney movie kicks off every 1st October and the whole town becomes like a scene straight from the TV movie we all grew up watching. In fact, they have recreated the same giant pumpkin from the film and it looks EXACTLY like the original and obviously, the annual Halloweentown fest is a HUGE hit among the fans.
