A woman from Virginia was watering the flowers in her garden when she saw this big bear wander into her backyard to take a dip
While the rest of us have been playing with fake, stuffed, teddy bears, Regina Keller has been rubbing shoulders with real bears for years. In fact, she had a recent brush with a big black bear who decided to take a nap in her backyard kiddie pool. No matter how deadly the animal may be, the sight of him lounging in the plastic pool is adorable and making people go "aww." Keller shared the video of the bear making himself comfortable on her Facebook page and has since gone viral. The bear is an absolute mood especially since the temperature is rising, as is our instinct to chill in the pool.
Last week, as Keller was watering the flowers in her garden, she saw this big bear wander into her backyard. Now, if it was you or me, we would probably freak out and run away but Keller is no stranger to wild animals taking a stroll in her backyard. She lives in a remote home and her neighbor is the George Washington National Forest in Fort Valley, Virginia, which means deer, bears, foxes, and squirrels all live next door and visit Keller often enough. She has had the fortune of spotting this wildlife in her backyard for the past 12 years and this bear is actually an old acquaintance.
"He wandered around the backyard... and went over by the pool and dipped his big paw in the water... and then climbed right in and laid down. He seemed so content and refreshed," Keller told CNN. She recognized the bear as he walked around in her backyard and realized that she had not seen him in over two years. "We hadn't seen him in a long time, and thought he may have been killed during the last hunting season, so it was good to see him today," she wrote about her old friend in the comments of the video. "This was the biggest one I've seen this year," she added.
As soon as she saw him, Keller quietly retreated to take a seat by a door near her house so she could observe him and let him get comfortable in the cool pool on a hot summer's day. In the short video clip Keller shared, we can see the bear splash around the shallow water of the kiddie pool. He looks content and relaxed as he tries to fit in as much of himself in the considerably smaller pool. With the wind blowing and the water keeping him cool, the bear is the perfect picture of what summer is all about. He's captured the essence of what summer entails and Deanne FirkinGood on Facebook has the perfect plan for him. She commented, Now all he needs is a frosty beverage with a little umbrella.
The panting bear clearly looked like the heat had gotten to him. But the small respite from the heat must have helped him quite a bit. Keller told CNN that the bear stayed in the pool for about an hour and took a long relaxing nap to cool down. Before long, her grandchildren came home with their dogs and the noise drove the bear away. To another curious Facebook user who wanted to know how long he was there, Keller replied, He's come and gone several times since I took these. He's laying out in the field behind our yard now.
