Wildlife Images Rehabilitation & Education Center came up with a fundraiser called “Catch and Release” on Valentine's Day where you could name a salmon after your ex and the staff members will have it fed to two brown bears.
Relationships can often be tricky. Sometimes all it takes is one moment to know you love someone so dearly that you start imagining your life with them. It is all fun and games when love takes over. However, as fate would have it, it doesn't always pan out the way you've imagined it to be.
There are times when the relationship goes downhill and you inevitably start hating your boyfriend or girlfriend and at that time, all you can ponder upon is why. Why was I with him/her? And more often than not, people start becoming petty and decide to ruin their ex's lives by taking revenge which is definitely not the right way to go about.
However, here's a wildlife rehabilitation center that offered to help out all the heartbroken people and at the same time, do something to help nature and wildlife. The Oregon-based Wildlife Images Rehabilitation & Education Center came up with a fundraiser called “Catch and Release” on Valentine's Day. And here's the interesting deal -- the center allowed you to name a salmon after your ex, following which the staff members will have it fed to two brown bears. As reported by Vice.
In a Facebook post, the center wrote, "Saving Wildlife with LOVE. Let our 1000 pound brown bears tear into your ex… Did you fall hook, line, and sinker for someone who broke your heart? 🐻 Kodi & Yak 🐻would love to help you get your revenge! In exchange for a $20.00 donation, your ex’s name will be on a salmon and served up for dinner. We’ll provide you with a special certificate and photos of Kodi and Yak destroying your salmon!"
The wildlife center also allowed you to “provide a salmon in your sweetheart’s honor,” for about $20, including a photo of the bears eating the salmon you bought. However, this one won't have the name written on it.
Although the campaign is currently closed as of now, you can always name a salmon after your ex and have it fed to bears, when the campaign possibly reopens again next Valentine's Day.
And this wasn't the first time such a service was offered. The El Paso Zoo also had a similar offer, saying in a post, "What's the perfect Valentine's Day gift? ❤️ Naming a cockroach after your ex, of course! Message us your ex's name and we'll name a cockroach after them! We'll post names (First and last name initial!) starting February 11 here on Facebook!" On Valentine's Day, the Zoo had promised to feed cockroaches to meerkats and stream it live on social media.
And let's not forget the Richmond Wildlife Center which allowed you to name a "mealworm, beetle, or waxworm after your worm of an ex" and then "feed your named insect to an animal in our care" only for $2.
