Thora Birch, who was just 12 years old, when the movie initially released has expressed her willingness to be part of the sequel.
Around November last year, Disney+ announced that it was working on a sequel to the cult-classic 1993 horror-comedy flick, Hocus Pocus.
As soon as it was announced, fans started speculating about the original cast returning for the sequel. And, now, Thora Birch has joined the list of stars to throw her name into the hat after Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker declared their willingness to return for Hocus Pocus 2.
Birch, who played the role of young Dani in the cult classic, took on the three witches, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler, and Kathy Najimy in the movie that has aged finely, especially considering the lukewarm reception it received from audience and critics alike during its theatrical run.
Speaking to Hollywood Life, while appearing at the Casting Society of America's Artios Awards in Beverly Hilton last week, Birch said: "I’m excited for it. They’ve been talking about this reboot for five years. I’m excited to see what it all looks like. I know a little bit about a couple of ideas for stories, but I don’t know where it’s all going to fall at the end of the day.”
What she does know, however, is that she's ready to hop back into the ride to take on the Sanderson sisters once again. Talking about the ideas she had about the sequel, Birch said: "If they would have me, depending on [the storyline]. I’m sure Dani’s not going to be selling crack in an alley anywhere, so I’m pretty open minded.”
This follows the news after Bette Midler, who'd spoken to ETOnline about the sequel back in October, had jokingly said: "Oh my goodness me. Oh I hope they get to me before I'm a corpse."
"We wanna fly again. I hope Disney+ is a big success and I hope we get to do it, because [Winifred] is of course one of my favorite characters. I mean she's, in the zeitgeist," Midler continued. "I have met people -- I've met grownup people, like 40-year-olds, 50-year-olds -- who say, 'Oh I remember that! Hocus Pocus! I was brought up on that.' It's so mortifying 'cause I still look 35."
When asked if she was still in touch with her on-screen sisters and whether she'd discussed the sequel with them, she said: "We actually talk about it whenever we see each other. We laugh, we say, 'Oh, wouldn't it be great if?' Because all of us had pretty much the same experience on it."
