Will Reichel, of Hot Air fame, has been reportedly tapped as the new writer for the much-anticipated reboot.
In recent times, Disney has been remaking a lot of our childhood classics, but there is one movie that we would really love to see being remade and that's Three Men and a Baby. When it was first announced by Disney that the remake of the classic movie will be showcased on Disney+ streaming platform, needless to say, fans were absolutely thrilled. As reported by Movieweb, the project is now moving forward with Will Reichel as the screenwriter. Reichel had previously worked on movies like Frank Coraci's 2018 drama Hot Air that starred Steve Coogan, Neve Campbell, and Taylor Russell.
The remake of Three Men and A Baby was announced back in 2018 and now, after almost two years, it seems like the project is finally moving forward. It has been reported by the Mouse House that they are looking for some interesting content in order to pad up their streaming service, which will feature a variety of exclusive content and that includes both remakes and reboots of popular Disney movies. Some of the remakes include the live-action version of Lady and the Tramp and the upcoming sequel series to The Mighty Ducks, and not to forget, this upcoming remake of the original Three Men and a Baby.
A short synopsis of the remake of Three Men and A Baby reads, "Life for an NYC bachelor and his two single friends is hilariously turned upside down when a girlfriend dumps a baby in his lap and disappears from his life forever." The premise seems pretty similar to the original movie. The OG movie was directed by Leonard Nimoy and the script was written by Jim Cruickshank and James Orr. Three Men and A Baby were released in 1987 and it starred Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg, and Ted Danson, who played the characters of three carefree bachelors living as roommates in New York City. Their lives take a sharp turn when they are suddenly given the responsibility of taking care of the lovechild of one of the characters after the baby literally shows up on their doorstep.
The original movie was a huge success in the box office upon its release. It also spawned a sequel titled Three Men and a Little Lady that revealed the story a few years ahead, where baby Mary has grown up to be a little girl. The story of Three Men and A Baby franchise seemed to have ended there, but it was reported in 2010 that the Mouse House was planning to make one more sequel movie that will feature a grown-up Mary. The movie was supposed to be titled Three Men and a Bride, but the production of the project never took off, thereby paving the way to reboot the entire franchise.
A report published by Geek Vibes Nation mentioned that the team is now searching for a director and the production will begin this year in Brooklyn, New York. Disney has not yet confirmed or officially commented on Reichel's involvement or the production status of the remake, so it's best that our readers take these developments with a pinch of salt. Hopefully, we will be hearing something official pretty soon, so keep an eye out for this space as we will update it as soon as something official is released.
