People Around The Globe Are Cleaning Up Trash In A New Viral #Trashtag Challenge And It Will Put A Smile On Your Face!

For the first time ever, an internet challenge which actually makes sense is going viral and people are cleaning up the earth.

Yes, the teens who may or may not have participated in the Tide Pod eating challenge, Kiki challenge, Kylie Lip challenge and hundreds of others stupid internet challenges are finally doing something sensible. Praise the lord. In a new viral trend, people around the globe are picking up trash from their dirty surroundings and cleaning up the mess human beings make. Instead of doing something really stupid and questionable behind their computer or phone screens, people, especially teenagers, are stepping out of their homes and breaking a sweat to clean up.

The #trashtag challenge which is now making headlines everywhere was started by a Facebook user called Byron Román, who asked and 'challenged' bored teens to do something for the greater good. "Here is a new #challenge for all you bored teens. Take a photo of an area that needs some cleaning or maintenance, then take a photo after you have done something about it, and post it," he wrote. His post, to his and basically everyone's surprise, went viral and was shared over 314,000 times before he deleted it!

Screenshots of the man's post were shared to other social media platforms like Twitter, Reddit, and Instagram as well and it instantly caught HUGE attention. Now, all thanks to Byron, people are participating in the challenge and doing their part to clean up their surroundings. In order to participate, go to a dirty beach, garden or any dirty place for that matter which is clogged with garbage, and take a picture of it.

Then, do some stretching (optional), put on some sunscreen (also optional), wear gloves (highly recommended) and let the cleaning frenzy begin! You can take as many breaks as you want in between, there are no rules as such, just clean the place of your choice. After you're done, take a picture of the area after cleaning and share it on social media with the hashtag #Trashtag and you're set! Not only will people appreciate your hard work, but the earth will also thank you!

People across the globe are actively participating in the #trashtag challenge and posting wholesome before and after pictures of places which are seriously soothing to the eyes! Not only that, but many are also tagging their friends and family for the challenge and asking them to participate in it. Various local communities have taken up the challenge as a team and are cleaning up huge areas together.

"I found this plastic bag stuck in a bush near our campsite and decided to put it to use. Inside is every plastic shotgun shell I could find along with every piece of plastic and trash I could see within our campsite. This excludes the countless amount of spent ammo casings and glass bottles thrown into fire pits and used as targets that are nearly impossible to collect.⁣⁣⁣ It’s the only outdoors we have. We all use it for many different things but it is the only one we have. So let’s all do our part and treat it with respect. Let’s pick up after ourselves and then pick up extra. It only takes a few minutes of your time to pick up something that’ll far outlast us, humans, if left alone," wrote a person on their IG urging people to participate in the challenge.

Some people are also using the opportunity to collect waste materials and trying to make the best out of waste materials and promoting the healthy practice of recycling. "Saturday 22nd September, I collected 52 Capri-Sun in the streets of Brussels in 1 hour only! Can you imagine? I've been saving them for 2 months now. I'm planning to use them for a project!" wrote a person. Social media is currently flooded with before and after pictures of places which were wrapped in a sheet of garbage before. Have you participated yet? The Earth is counting on you.
