Walk through an enchanted forest with trails lit with beautifully carved pumpkins and get into the spirit of Halloween at Wehr's Nature Center in Franklin, Wisconsin.
Do you love nature AND Halloween? If yes, there's a fall paradise you need to visit, immediately. Located in Wisconsin, every year, a giant enchanting forest is decorated with beautifully lit and carved Jack O' Lanterns allowing you to stroll and walk through nature with trails of pumpkins around you.
Wehr Nature Center is ready for its Halloween event Halloween Haunts and you are invited to witness this magical forest with your own eyes. The forest is open for visitors pretty much throughout the year but as fall arrives, Wehr turns it into a Halloween wonderland.
The dates for this year are October 17, 18, and 19. Tickets for the same are set to go live on 23rd September.
What does the event include? A LOT! 'Wehr’s woodland is transformed into an Enchanted Forest complete with a talking owl, a wi se-cracking skeleton and even some rapping arthropods. Glowing mushrooms and happy ghosts are ready to surprise families that follow the Jack-o-lantern lit trail. The trip through the Enchanted Forest is just spooky enough to keep the kids enthralled, but is not designed to give anyone a nightmare. In fact, most folks leave with a smile on their face and a new appreciation for nature’s misunderstood creatures. Visitors are treated to a snack of cider and popcorn and can enjoy games, crafts, face painting and fortune telling in the Gardner Room after their walk. There is even a magic show to enjoy while you wait for your hike to start! It all makes for a great evening of entertainment and education,' reads the event details. In addition to this, there are several other pumpkin displays which deserve your attention. Autumn at the Arboretum, an annual festival, celebrates the colors of the fall in a totally Instagram friendly way.
Kicking off this September 21st, the Dallas Arboretum fall display is one of a kind and it proudly features over 90,000 pumpkins! In addition to painting a beautiful fall scenery, the display usually follows a theme and this year, 'It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.'
'Named one of “America’s Best Pumpkin Festivals” by Fodor’s Travel, the festival features breathtaking colors of fall including 150,000 autumn flowers accented by pumpkins, gourds, and squash,' the event details reads. You can find out more about it here.
Another great display can be found at Sleepy Hollow called The Great Jack-O’-Lantern Blaze. The biggest Halloween event of the area, The Great Jack O' Lantern Blaze is bringing together over 7,000 hand-carved pumpkins, illuminating in the dark. Disney's real-life Halloweentown packs a great display as well and if you're a fan of the classic, you definitely need to go there. Situated in St. Helens, Oregon, the tiny place gets in the 'Spirit of Halloweentown' every year and it is Halloween there throughout October!
