In Teen Vogue's "Ask A Native American Girl" series, model Daunnette Reyome and others describe what the first Thanksgiving means to them.
Teen Vogue has spent the last few years doing provocative, progressive work in discussing social issues. In 2016, they've invited Native American teen girls to discuss what Thanksgiving means to them.
Model Daunnette Reyome, who previously worked on Teen Vogue's photospread on cultural appropriation, brings her friends to talk about the history of the Native population in the United States. It's grim stuff, as the stories of genocide and massacre are heartbreaking (assuming you have a heart, don't read the comments section) but they're ultimately thankful for the most important thing: they're all still here.
