It's Official: 'What We Do In The Shadows' Is Renewed For A Third Season

The news of renewal comes while the second season is still being aired by the Disney-owned cable network.

Good news for all What We Do In The Shadows fans as the show has been already renewed by FX for a third season, reports Variety. The news of renewal comes while the second season is still being aired by the Disney-owned cable network. Evidently, the series has performed brilliantly and the ratings have managed to stay up.

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Nick Grad, president of original programming at FX said, "We're incredibly happy that critics and audiences are all in on Shadows. Week in and week out, the producers, writers, and our amazing cast continue to make one of the funniest and best comedy series on TV." FX also said that the second season averaged at 3.2M total viewers across linear and digital platforms and also reported an increase of 25% of viewership compared to the last season. The series also has a 94 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Coming to the cast for the third season, we can expect the entire main cast to return. Season two featured Star Wars legend Mark Hamill playing the role of Jim, who is also a vampire in search of Laszlo. We don't know if he is going to return for the third season or not. No plot details of the third season have been revealed as of now and it is hard to predict what will happen since the second season is still being aired.

According to a report by Express, the synopsis of the final episode of season two, titled Théâtre des Vampires reads, “The vampires try to survive without Guillermo, while they prepare to attend the most exclusive event on the vampiric social calendar.”

What We Do In The Shadows is based on Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clemen's 2014 film of the same name and it follows the story of a group of vampires living together in New York. The show stars Matt Berry, Kayvan Novak, Natasia Demetriou, Harvey Guillén, and Mark Proksch. The series is produced by FX Productions. The executive producers of the show are Clement, Waititi, Paul Simms, Scott Rudin, Garrett Basch, Eli Bush, and Stefani Robinson.

During the second season of the show, the vampires try to find their way in a world of human Super Bowl parties, internet trolls, an energy vampire who manages to get a promotion and loses his mind with all the power he amassed. Apart from that, the show also included other supernatural creatures like ghosts, witches, necromancers, zombies, and shadowy assassins who roam around the tri-state area without any fear. Now, the main question fans need an answer to is that will Guillermo become a vampire or a vampire hunter?
